Piraeus and Thessaloniki ports still up for privatisation

Athens: The new Greek government does not intend to cancel its privatisation of Piraeus and Thessaloniki ports, an unnamed government official told Reuters.

The government plans to reassess all state divestments that have not yet been completed, the official said.

China’s Cosco is one of four companies in the running to acquire a 67% stake in Piraeus Port Authority.

The privatisations were planned while the previous government was in power, and also include state railway operator TRAINOSE.
