Pleiades Shipping enters dry bulk sector with order at Namura

Greek owner Pleiades Shipping has placed an order of two 85,000 dwt post-panamax bulk carriers at Japan’s Namura Shipbuilding.

The price for each vessel is $27.5m and delivery is scheduled in 2019. The vessels will be the first bulkers in Pleiades Shipping’s fleet.

The company currently operates a fleet of 12 tankers, and it has another three tankers under construction at Namura Shipbuilding and Hyundai Mipo.

  1. I was informed that Pleiades was a tanker company, no dry bulk. Do they want to expand into dry bulk business?
