P&O Maritime books two multi-purpose vessels at Mawei Shipbuilding

P&O Maritime, a shipping unit of DP World, has signed shipbuilding contracts with China’s Mawei Shipbuilding for the construction of two 5,400 dwt multi-purpose cargo ships.

The ships, which are capable of carrying both bulk and container cargo, will be used for shipping operations on Fly River in Papua New Guinea. Delivery is scheduled in 2021.

P&O Maritime merged with Topaz Energy and Marine in December, creating new brand P&O Maritime Logistics.
