Polarcus vessel gets bareboat charter extension in Russia

SCF Sakhalin Supply has extended its bareboat charter of Polarcus’ seismic survey vessel Vyacheslav Tikhonov by a further three years. The contract value was not disclosed.

The vessel (pictured) was originally chartered for five years in 2011, when it began marine seismic surveys for Rosneft and ExxonMobil at the Tuapse Trough Project on the Russian continental shelf in the Black Sea.

The 84.2-metre-long Vyacheslav Tikhonov is an Arctic-ready 3D seismic vessel, built to the ULSTEIN SX133 X-BOW design. The vessel is capable of deploying up to eight 6,000-metre-long streamers or six 8,000-metre-long streamers, with lateral streamer separations of between 25 and 200 metres.

Vladimir Putin, prime minister of the Russian Federation, became the vessel’s guardian at naming ceremony held Sochi in August 2011.
