Polembros confirms double aframax purchase

Polembros of Greece is emerging as one of the most active shipping company in the sale and purchase market in the last few weeks. After the “one in, one out” deal registered in the middle of last month, the Athens-based company has just inked another buy in the second hand market. Despite the denial dated three weeks ago, Polembros Shipping can now confirm the purchase from Global Unite Shipping of two aframax tankers – TH Serenade and TH Sound – both built in 2008. George Vakirtzis, managing director of Polembros, confirmed to Splash that “the en bloc deal was finalised last week”.

A few weeks ago, commenting on the reasons behind the latest deals signed, Vakirtzis said: “Apart from our newbuilding program we are always in the market for quality secondhand tonnage”.
