Pollution fight off Mukalla

Doha: The Hadramout governor signed in Mukalla, Tuesday, a specialized foreign company to combat diesel pollution spreading from the Champion1 tanker to Mukalla Beach since the start of Ramadan.
The ship belongs to the Saba Islamic Bank, which is owned by Hamid al-Ahmar, with local media reporting the vessel was ill equipped to sail lacking basic safety equipment.
The Authority for Maritime Affairs is supervising, since last Saturday, the withdrawal of fuel oil from inside the vessel and combating the pollution through specialized technical teams.  The ship was carrying some 4,500 tons of diesel when it lost power in bad weather some 10 days ago.  [24/07/13]
