Jurong Shipyard has given Prosafe $30m in seller’s credit on the final payment for its accommodation rig Safe Zephyrus, which is due for delivery from the Singaporean yard this month.
The sum will be repaid in a single installment by June 15, 2017, Prosafe said today.
Delivery of the semi-submersible platform was originally scheduled for 2015 but in November Prosafe and the shipyard agreed to a “flexible” delivery date in 2016. The $295.2m construction contract was signed with Jurong Shipyard’s parent Sembcorp Marine in November 2012.
Safe Zephyrus (pictured) is due to begin a contract to Statoil at the Mariner project in the UK Continental Shelf of the North Sea from mid-April 2016. The vessel will be deployed for a short initial period and will be replaced with the Safe Notos after its delivery from the yard and its arrival into the North Sea.
Prosafe’s third-quarter 2015 financial results show Safe Zephyrus has firm employment lined up throughout the second half of 2016, with an optional extension period during the first half of 2017. The specific client was not disclosed.
