Qatari firm adds a post-panamax

Aswan Trading and Contracting has added its first ship in years, according to broking registers.

The Qatar-headquartered construction specialist has added a 20-year-old post-panamax from Japanese owner Taiyo Nippon Kisen for $5.6m.The price appears very firm , as online portal VesselsValue.com values the Chubu Maru at $1m less.

In addition to the linked ship the Arab company has one handysize vessel, the Paula II, built in 1982, in its fleet.

The company claims on its site to be one of the leading contractors in Qatar as well as one of the main suppliers of a comprehensive range of local limestone aggregates and gabbro material to the building and civil engineering industries.
