Qingshan closes in on more orders

Shanghai: A Cypriot owner is on the cusp of returning to China for more bulkers. Pola Maritime has said it is negotiating with Qingshan Shipyard for more handysizes. Pola took delivery of the last in the series of 37,500 dwt ships from the same yard two weeks ago.

“Pola is now under negotiation with the shipyard to build another series of handysize units for delivery in 2016-2017,” the company said.

Pola’s current fleet size stands at 20 ships and it has made plain its desire to have a fleet of 35 ships by the end of 2015 via charters and second-hand purchases. [01/10/14]
