Queensland cruise development raises Singaporean ire

Singapore: The Queensland government and the Gold Coast City Council are likely to find themselves in a legal fight with Singapore’s Sembawang Engineers and Constructors over a planned multi-billion dollar cruise ship terminal and casino. Local authorities are announcing today their intention to go ahead with the project.

However, Ric Grosvenor, the Australian ceo of Sembawang Engineers and Constructors, has said legal action is a possibility. Sembawang pulled out of the development earlier this year as local authorities did not commit to the casino part of the construction, something they have now added to the plan.

Sembawang Engineers and Constructors is owned by Punj Lloyd's. [02/11/12]
