Raft of port projects in Iraq

Doha: The Iraqi Ministry of Transport has said that local ports "will not suffer from the crisis of goods storage anymore", while it announced putting the foundation stone for the construction of four berths on the northern side of Umm Qasr port and the opening of a storage yard for goods. The opening of two berths on the southern side of Umm Qasr port is scheduled for September, while energy giant BP has been granted permission to build its own terminal for oil exports at the port of Khor Al-Zubair.

Storage area at Umm Qasr port is set to jump from 102,000 sq m to 600,000 sq m. [22/08/13]
