Record volumes on Suez Canal

Cairo: Egypt's international shipping lane has broken its record for the amount of cargo sent through it in a single day. As many as 54 ships crossed the Suez Canal on Friday, carrying a total cargo of 3.516m tons.
The south-bound convoy included 28 ships, carrying 1.8579m tons, while the north-bound convoy included 26 vessels, carrying around 1.4636m tons.  [02/02/14]
