Reed Smith rebuilding in HK with Stephenson Harwood double swoop

Hong Kong: Reed Smith’s Hong Kong office has appointed Stephenson Harwood partner Jason Toms and associate Joyce Cheung to its global shipping group as it looks to beef up operations following last year’s en masse departure to Howse Williams Bowers.

Toms is a litigation partner with a focus on wet and dry shipping matters. He moved to Hong Kong from London in 1997 with legacy Sinclair Roche & Temperley. He joined Stephenson Harwood’s Hong Kong office in 2002 following the merger between the two firms and became a partner at the firm in 2008.

He has acted on a number of high-profile Hong Kong shipping and litigation cases, in particular the collision and total loss of the Neftegaz 67, which was until recently Hong Kong’s worst maritime disaster in terms of loss of life.  [23/10/12]
