Rickmers Maritime completes initial sale of five vessels to Navios

Rickmers Maritime and Navios Maritime Partners have completed the sale of five containerships for a total of $59m as part of a deal to sell 14 vessels to Navios for $113m in the winding up process of Rickmers Maritime Trust.

The five vessels were secured under loan facilities by a BNP Syndicate, and after settling obligations to the syndicate of $34.3m, Rickers has received proceeds of $24.7m. The proceeds are $20m more than Rickmers initially indicated.

The five 4,250 teu vessels change hands to Navios attached to charters through to 2018 and early 2019 at a net daily rate of $26,850.

The sale for the remaining nine vessels, secured under senior loan facilities extended by HSH and DBS, has not yet been completed. Rickmers says it is working to close the sale as soon as possible.
