Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido orders innovative LNG bunker barge at Rosetti

Italian shipyard Rosetti Marino has received a new order from Rimorchiatori Riuniti Panfido of Venice for an innovative LNG bunker unit and related tug capable of refuelling ships in Venice and other ports in the North Adriatic region.

The value of the shipbuilding contract is €36m ($40m), and delivery is scheduled before the end of 2020.

The LNG marine technology project consists of a 65-tons of bollard pull capacity tug as a power unit, and a non-propelled pontoon for the supply of 4,000 cu m of LNG and 1,000 cu m of MDO capacity.

The order, part of the Poseidon Med programme co-financed by European Commission and supported by the port authority of Venice, will represent the first bunker barge ever built in Italy and to date the most innovative in the Mediterranean market.

For Rosetti Marino is also a comeback in the shipbuilding business after some years since the last time it delivered its last supply vessels and harbour tugs.
