London: China's largest privately held shipyard Rongsheng Heavy Industries has made debut on Clarkson’s list of top five global shipbuilders. Rongsheng’s newbuild orderbook as of the end of May was only bettered by Samsung, Daewoo, Hyundai and STX, all from Korea.
Rongsheng’s 2.98m cgt outmuscled Hyundai Samho. Other Chinese yards in the top ten were Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (1.69m cgt) in ninth and Jinhai Heavy Industries (1.58m cgt) in tenth place. [26/06/12]
