Hong Kong: SeaShip News understands China Rongsheng Heavy Industries Group has secured its first 1+1 jack-up rig EPC contract. The contract comes from an unspecified Singaporean customer.
“The group will accelerate its growth into the high-end offshore equipment manufacturing field and develop as a world-class offshore engineering service provider,” a source at Rongsheng said. Offshore has been targeted by Rongsheng management as an urgent way to fill its drydocks amid the slump in bulker and tanker orders. To this end, an offshore sales office was set up in Singapore late last year.
The 1+1 CJ46 jack-up rig, including one confirmed order and one option, is used as an exploratory drilling platform for oil and natural gas. [19/03/13]
