Rowan awarded jackup contract by Lundin

Rowan Companies has announced that its jackup rig Rowan Viking has been awarded a seven-well program by Lundin Norway.

The contract is expected to commence in 2020 for a minimum duration of 265 days, and has four additional one-well priced options.

The Rowan Viking has just completed the first well of a two-well program for MOL Norges in Norway and will perform a special periodic survey prior to commencing the second well with MOL, which is expected to start in April 2019 and has an estimated duration of 140 days.

A $12bn merger between Rowan and Ensco moved a step closer this week, after the two companies entered into an amendment agreement.
