Rowan awarded jackup contract by Chrysaor

Offshore driller Rowan Companies has been awarded a contract by UK oil and gas explorer Chrysaor for the company’s jackup drilling rig Rowan Gorilla VII in the UK sector of the North Sea.

The duration of the contract is 18 months, and includes two one-year options.

“Rowan’s solid position in the harsh environment North Sea jack-up region is further strengthened by this commitment from Chrysaor. We look forward to delivering safe and reliable operations to our new customer,” said Tom Burke, president and CEO of Rowan.

Rowan currently operates a fleet of 27 mobile offshore drilling units, composed of 23 self-elevating jack-up rigs and four drillships.

This month, Rowan secured a series contracts which saw the employment of drillship Rowan Resolute, and jackup rigs Rowan Viking and Rowan EXL III.
