Rowan drillship reactivated for Total job

US offshore driller Rowan Companies, currently in the middle of a $12bn combination with Ensco, has been awarded a contract in Mexico by Total for 2014-built drillship Rowan Renaissance.

The contract is expected to commence early next year and is for a firm term of one well, estimated at around 60 days. The agreement also includes three one-well options.

Rowan Renaissance is currently being reactivated, having been warm stacked offshore Louisiana after coming off contract to Repsol in April 2017.
