Beijing: China’s State Administration of Work Safety has sent letters to Lloyd’s Register (LR) and America Bureau of Shipping (ABS), ordering them to suspend offshore survey and certification work for six months.
The administration said the decision was according to the Safety Regulations of Inspection Agencies, without giving more details.
An official from LR’s China operations said the company is treating the matter seriously and is working on a response, while ABS said the group company is handling the matter and wasn’t able to give more information. [06/11/14]
