Samsung Heavy wins $1.27bn contract from BP

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has won the first South Korean vessel order of the year, concluding a lengthy contract with BP.

SHI will build a $1.27bn floating production unit for BP’s Mad Dog offshore field. The unit will deliver in August 2020. The 58,000 dwt production facility will have capacity to produce up to 110,000 gross barrels of crude oil and 25m cu ft of natural gas per day.
