Cairo: The Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) has finalized several agreements to acquire the latest technology in equipment. The new equipment, which will serve the latest generation of container ships, will be received by the terminal during the last quarter of this year and throughout 2014.
SCCT is buying two new quay cranes of the latest technology, which is specifically designed to handle the containers on the newest generation of 18,000 teu container vessels. It also acquired 43 trailers, 24 tractors, and 3 Reach Stackers with a total investment of $35m.
Klaus Laursen, managing director of the Suez Canal Container Terminal, said: "The terminal always aspires to be ready to meet the needs of its clients and to provide the equipment that can save the time of the client and offer the needed services accurately, efficiently and safely. Therefore, we are continuously seeking out new development to improve our performance and to have the latest technology the market has to offer. The newly acquired equipment will achieve just that."
