Scorpio Bulkers closes in on resale kamsarmax from Yangzijiang

Monaco-based Scorpio Bulkers is set to ink a deal for the purchase of a resale newbuilding bulk carrier.

Broker sources report that the firm, lead by Emanuele Lauro, is on the verge of acquiring a kamsarmax bulker currently under construction at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang shipyard in China.

The price of the vessel is around the $25m mark and delivery is set for before the end of May 2018.

Sources close to Scorpio confirmed to Splash that negotiations are ongoing and is likely, although not yet closed. The vessel, identified with the hull number YZJ2015-2215, is currently owned by the Chinese shipbuilding group’s subsidiary Yangzijiang Shipping.
