Scorpio offloads supramax quartet to BoComm

China’s Bank of Communications Financial Leasing has emerged as the taker of a supramax quartet from Emanuele Lauro’s Scorpio.

Sources tell Splash that BoComm bought the vessels and has then leased them to unspecified third party charters.

The deal first appeared on broking reports a number of weeks ago without the buyer being identified.

Scorpio had taken the four 56,750 dwt ships – E Transporter, the E Trader, E Traveller and E Tracer – last summer from troubled German owner Marenave. All the ships were built at Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding in China around seven years back, and are valued at about $12m each according to online portal VesselsValue.

It’s less than six months since Scorpio signed another significant deal with BoComm, with its tanker division entering into a sale-and-leaseback deal for five secondhand MR product tankers.
