Seatankers orders debut LNG carrier at DSME

John Fredriksen’s Seatankers Management has placed an order at South Korean yard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) for the construction of a 173,400 cu m LNG carrier.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled in 2020.

The order marks an entry into the LNG carrier market for Seatankers. The company currently operates a fleet of 13 bulk carriers and four tankers, while it has 18 bulk carriers under construction at four Chinese yards.

DSME has secured a slew of LNG carrier orders this year, and earlier in the week secured an order from John Angelicoussis’ Maran Gas Maritime for a 173,400 cu m LNG FSRU.
