Senior APL exec nominated to run LA Port

Los Angeles: Gene Seroka, one of the top names working for Singapore containerline APL, has been appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to lead the nation’s busiest seaport.

Seroka, who is head of commercial operations in the Americas region for APL, will serve as executive director of the Port of Los Angeles.

“I’m thrilled that Mayor Garcetti has tapped me to lead the Port of Los Angeles — the busiest container port in the United States,” Seroka said in a statement. “I look forward to focusing our operations to provide world-class customer service while continuing to invest in a healthy and vibrant harbor community.”

Seroka has been with APL, part of the NOL Group, since 1988.  [28/05/14]
