Sentek Marine orders up to four VLCCs

Singapore’s Sentek Marine is determined to become a serious VLCC player to add to its leading position as a bunker supplier. The company, which bought its second VLCC this January, the 21-year old OS Concord, has decided the time is ripe to order its first new supertankers.

South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has revealed Sentek Marine has gone for two firm plus two options of the yard’s 300,000 dwt VLCC design.

The two firm vessels are due for delivery in the first half of 2019 from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. For HHI after a miserable 2016, the first four months of this year have seen orders pour in, especially for VLCCs with prices deemed cheap in the region of $80m per unit.

Sentek Marine is one of the top three bunker players in Singapore, the world’s largest bunkering hub.
