Seven Islands takes another handy

Seven Islands Shipping’s purchasing spree continues with its tenth purchase in the last 12 months.

Broker sources tell Splash that India’s fastest growing tanker owner has sealed yet another deal, adding its tenth handy tanker since November lat year, paying $8m for the 14-year-old 35,200 dwt Rita Maersk. The Chinese-built vessel has been renamed Feather.

While Seven Islands is adding one vintage handy sized tanker after another, the seller, Danish mammoth Maersk Tankers, is doing the opposite, actively marketing ships in this segment for sale. Sales statistics compiled by VesselsValue show 10 handysize tankers sold so far this year by the great Dane.
