Shandong Offshore orders three decommissioning vessels at CIMC Raffles

Shandong Offshore subsidiary Shandong Twin Marine has signed shipbuilding contracts with CIMC Raffles for the construction of three semi-submersible vessels.

Two of three vessels, which are equipped with a heavy lift capability of 34,000 ton each, will be used for offshore decommissioning work and one of the vessels will be used for transportation of disassembled parts.

The vessels will be deloyed in the British North Sea region upon completion.

According to Shandong Offshore, the company has seen huge business opportunities from the offshore decommissioning market amid the current low usage rate of offshore platforms.
