Shanghai aims for a million cruise visitors by 2015

Shanghai: Shanghai has set out ambitious goals to become a genuine world leader in cruise visitor numbers.

Authorities in China’s financial metropolis are anticipating a 15% increase in passengers in and out of Shanghai this year, and plenty more ships making the city their home port too.

Shanghai handled more than 300,000 passengers last year, twice the figure from 2008. It has two cruise terminals. The aim is to crack the 1m mark by as soon as 2015 with up to 500 annual arrivals and departures.  [28/06/12]
