Shell confirms big find in Gulf of Mexico offshore New Orleans

Anglo-Dutch oil super major Shell announced it has made a significant offshore oil discovery in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The deep-water find at the Fort Sumter well about 73 miles southeast of New Orleans is estimated to have recoverable resources exceeding 125 million barrels of oil equivalent (Mmboe)

Shell said in a statement it is optimistic that adjacent structures could yield even more large high-yield discoveries.
