Shell Trading agrees charter deal for US-made LNG bunker vessel

Shell Trading (US) Company on Tuesday announced it has made a long-term charter deal with US firm Q-LNG Transport for a 4,000 cu m LNG bunker barge.

It will be built by VT Halter Marine of Pascagoula, Mississippi with on-board equipment and systems coming from the US arm of Finnish firm Wartsila.

The ocean-going barge will deliver LNG to ports in Florida and the Caribbean and its unique transfer system will allow it to load the fuel from big or small terminals and to bunker various kinds of vessels.

Q-LNG of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a company 70% owned by Harvey Gulf International Marine CEO Shane Guidry and 30% by Harvey Gulf of Golden Meadow, Louisiana.

Shell Trading Co acts as a single market interface in the US for Anglo-Dutch Shell and its affiliates.
