Shipmanagement Survey: Sector comes of age

Singapore: Contained on the back page of the latest issue of Maritime CEO magazine is our regular MarPoll page where we invite you, the reader, to pass opinion and comment on key issues. For this issue, we teamed up with Singapore’s Masterbulk to do a special shipmanagement survey. Just over 400 of you voted.
Despite there being some “rotten apples”, as one voter commented, roughly two thirds of respondents said shipmanagement, as a business, had come of age.
“The ongoing phenomenon of equity ownership in shipping assets has catapulted third party shipmanagement from a dark horse to an indispensable asset management element,” commented one reader.
Service beat out people/relationships and price to be the most important feature owners look for when choosing a shipmanager, while communication with owners was deemed managers’ greatest weakness.
In total there were seven questions and opinions were rather divided. The full details can be accessed here. [01/09/14]
