Siem Shipping acquires reefer pair

Oslo: Siem Shipping has said today that it has entered into a deal to acquire two specialised reefer vessels, both of which are currently on time charter from Shikoku Dockyard, in Japan.

The two vessels are the Star First (13,202 dwt, built 2006) and Star Prima (13,189 dwt, built 2006), and Siem says delivery is expected to take place in April and May 2015. Both have a total capacity in excess of 1 million cubic feet divided between underdeck capacity of 585,000cft and on-deck capacity for 200 reefer FEU.

Siem Shipping said that the acquisition has been financed by drawing down the balance of its $100m bank facility and with internally generated funds.
