Siem Shipping diversifies with twin PCTC order

Oslo: Siem Shipping, formerly Star Reefers, has lived up to its name change and moved into the PCTC segment with an order for two 7,000 ceu pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) at Uljanik in Croatia.

Delivery of the two vessels, which will cost in the region of $55m, is scheduled for the second half of 2017.

The two newbuilds will be chartered to sister company Siem Car Carriers for a period of five years. Both are part of Siem Industies, which is controlled by Kristian Siem and his family.

Last month, Siem Shipping added two specialised reefer vessels, both of which were on time charter from Shikoku Dockyard, the Star First and Star Prima.
