Simatech buys its largest ships to date

Dubai: Dubai feeder operator Simatech has taken on two more ships. Both are 15-year-old 3,359 teu ships that were bought from Germany’s E.R. Schiffahrt for an undisclosed price.

Renamed the Uni Globe and Uni Galaxy, Simatech intends to deploy the vessels on its intra-Gulf and Gulf-India services. The pair are the largest owned ships in the Simatech fleet. Its largest chartered ship is a 4,600 teu vessel.

Simatech Shipping was first established in 1992 and is now one of the region’s best known feeder operators. The company operates 16 different destinations within the Gulf, the Indian subcontinent, Far East and East Africa.  [09/05/13]
