Singapore refinery fire extinguished after two hours

Emergency services were called out to Jurong Island in Singapore after another fire at one of the republic’s refineries. Firefighters spent two hours dousing a blaze at the Singapore Refining Company which started in a crude distillation unit.

“Water monitors and several large capacity fire extinguishers were deployed to mitigate the fire,” local authorities reported.

No casualties were reported.

In April last year a tank crumpled from a fire at another refinery on Jurong Island.
