Singapore’s LNG terminal now operating

Singapore: Singapore LNG began operating its $1.4 bn new terminal yesterday with the arrival by ship of its first cargo, supplied by BG.

The LNG terminal will have an initial capacity of 3.5m tonnes per year with two storage tanks, which will rise to 6m tonnes by the end of the year as a third storage tank comes online.

A fourth tank will eventually add another 3m tonnes too.

Singapore has ambitions to become a regional trading hub for LNG, with Southeast Asia viewed as one of the hottest places on Earth in terms of growing gas demand.  [08/05/13]
