Singular Point: Cloud-based maritime transportation system readies for debut

MARiS, the world’s first modular cloud-based maritime transportation system, will launch next June, designed to help shipping and trading companies to maximise their maritime transportation efficiency. The system, developed by Swiss-based Singular Point, covers all activities during a transportation lifecycle. This includes precise analytics, cargo requests, voyage planning and management, chartering, voyage execution, accounting, claims management, risk management, reporting and much more.

Antonio Albiero, the CEO and founder of Singular Point, has noticed a severe consolidation in the number of shipping software providers in recent years which he believes is close to a monopoly situation

“Singular Point wants to rebalance this development and open the market as a new participant within the industry,” he tells Maritime CEO.

Being cloud-based is cheaper and easier to set up for clients, Albiero argues. Moreover, it can then be accessed and used from anywhere.

“Digitalisation will allow the industry to set a new digital standard of how information should be exchanged between different counterparties,” Albiero claims, suggesting the days of speaking over the phone as the main business communication tool are coming to an end.
