Sinopec eyes Canada LNG project

Beijing: China’s largest oil refiner Sinopec is in talks with Apache Corp to buy a minority stake in an LNG project on Canada’s Pacific coast.

The Kitimat LNG project, owned by Apache and Chevron, could export 10m tons of LNG per year, and is expected to start shipping LNG to Asia by 2017.

"Apache is moving forward with the project, and we're looking for partners," a spokesman from Apache said.
Sinopec is also in talks with other companies for similar investments in this region. [28/11/13]
