SIPG moves river container transit business to Taicang Port

Shanghai: Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) announced that its Waigaoqiao port area has stopped taking container transit business from upstream Yangtze River ports including Chongqing, Wuhan, Changsha and Jiujiang.

Instead, SIPG will move the business to Taicang Port in Jiangsu, which will add about 600,000teu container throughput to the port annually.

In March, SIPG acquired 45% equity in Taicang Port’s Zhenghe Container Terminal in order to integrate its container business from Yangtze River ports. Taicang Port has an annual designed capacity of 2m teu. [22/07/14]
