SITC adds boxship pair at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding

Chinese boxship operator SITC International Holdings has announced that it has entered into shipbuilding contracts with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the construction of two containerships.

The two ships are due to be delivered in September and November 2020 respectively. The price for each vessel is $29m, although the size of the ships was not disclosed.

SITC currently operates over 70 container ships with a capacity of nearly 100,000 teu, and has another four 2,700 teu containerships under construction at Yangzijiang as well as six 1,006 teu containerships on order at South Korea’s Dae Sun Shipbuilding.
