SITC adds one more and cements top 20 liner position

China’s SITC continues its rapid fleet build up, cementing its position as the nation’s largest private boxline.

With the acquisition of the 1,043 teu Sara from Germany’s Harmstorf, SITC, an intra-Asia specialist, is now a firm fixture within the top 20 liner list created by Alphaliner. Brokers suggest SITC has paid $8.2m for the ship.

SITC’s fleet recently surpassed the 100,000 teu mark. According to Alphaliner it now ranks as the 19th largest boxship line in the world with a fleet of 103,155 slots.
