SITC executes options for boxship pair at Yangzijiang

Chinese boxship operator SITC has executed options for the construction of two 2,400 teu containerships.

The total price for the two vessels is $50m and deliveries are scheduled in February and April of 2020.

The options are part of a newbuilding contract SITC entered into with Yangzijiang at the end of November for two 2,400 teu containerships.

SITC has been very active in both the newbuilding and secondhand containership markets in the past year, having acquired four secondhand vessels from German owners and ordering four 1,011 teu newbuildings at South Korea’s Dae Sun Shipbuilding.
