SK Shipping takes two Hyundai LNG carriers for $400m

Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has confirmed it has won its first LNG orders of the year. In a much telegraphed contract, fellow Korean company SK Shipping is paying the yard $400m for two 180,000 cu m membrane type ships with dual fuel engines to be delivered by 2019. The ships will transport shale gas from the Freeport LNG project in the US.

For HHI the contract win is an enormous boost as it struggles through restructuring and a extended barren period of scarcely any new orders.
