Skuld advises on Myanmar calls

Singapore: Skuld, the P&I Club, has sent out a circular to its members on key aspects for owners to bear in mind when calling in Myanmar.

“As more and more vessels are calling at [Yangon] ports, and perhaps have had only limited prior experience with calls to Myanmar, it is important for members to ensure they have a good understanding of the local situation prior to arrival,” Skuld said, noting both length and draft restrictions and compulsory pilotage for vessels over 200 gt. Ships should also be aware of strong tidal flows and the risk of robbery attempts at outer anchorage – Myanmar is not party to the ISPS Convention.  [10/07/14]
