Oslo-listed OSV owner and operator Solstad Offshore has secured a new long-term contract with Italian cabling giant Prysmian for its construction support vessel Normand Pacific.
.The contract is for seven years, expiring end-December 2030, but also gives Prysmian multiple multi-year options to keep the 2010-built CSV beyond the firm period.
The vessel has been on charter with Prysmian since 2016 supporting the company’s power cable installation projects. Financial terms of the new deal were not disclosed.
Prysmian has lined up a number of important cabling contracts in the renewables sector, including $1.91bn worth of work on connection projects that will link upcoming Dutch offshore wind farms to the mainland grid. The company has five advanced cable layers, including one under construction, and one ultra-shallow-water cable laying barge.
