Somali pirate boss detained in Belgium

Brussels: Belgian Authorities have announced the arrest of Mohammed Abdi Hassan, the leader of a Somali pirate gang which was behind the seizure of a Belgian ship in 2009 and the kidnapping of the ship's crew.
Belgian police said that the arrest took place early morning Saturday in Brussels International Airport after the Somali pirate leader, known as Big Mouth, had arrived from Nairobi.
Hassan is facing a 15 year imprisonment under the charge of piracy, and another 30 years under the charge of taking hostages. [15/10/13]
