Sorong port plans on hold

Jakarta: State run port operator Pelindo II has had its plans to build a box port in Sorong in Papua put on hold as it awaits for relevant government permits. The $1.6bn port project is expected to be built over a 7,500 ha area and act as a transhipment hub for Papua New Guinea and Australia. The port’s planned annual capacity is 500,000 teu.  [13/11/13]
